Sam and Great-Grandma

These pictures are both cute and hilarious! It's one of those "you had to be there," but I'll do my best...The first Sunday the Waymeyers were all here, we got together at Mom and Dad's house for dinner. Naps were getting pushed back farther and farther, what with all the fun to be had with the cousins. But here's Sam, content as can be to look at Great-Grandma's Country (I think) magazine and point out all the "horzies" and "puppies". He sat there for awhile and Grandma really got a kick out of it. But then Grandma's hearing aid began to make a high-pitched whine and Sam just looked sideways at her wondering what in the world that noise was coming from Grandma's ear! Kids are so funny (especially when paired with great-grandmas)!

The Fort

Their little guy, Zach ("Zackrie" to Nathan) is so sweet and huge for his age! He's taller than Nathan and won't even be 3 until mid-August!

The older Waymeyer kids (with some assistance from the younger siblings and cousins) built this really neat fort in Grandma and Grandpa's woods, complete with a cleared path back to it. We had a fire there one night towards the end of their stay and made S'mores.

The Waymeyer Cousins Are (Were) Here!

Grandpa helping the kids play Parchesi by the rules.

My sister Julie arrived with her family to our neck of WI on the 17th and, much to our chagrin, they left today. We had lots of fun playing games and building forts in the woods. The kids were more than a little bummed today by the lack of a trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house, but were sufficiently worn out and distracted by swimming at Nana's neighbor's pool this afternoon. Bekah even asked more than once when we would be going over to Gma and Gpa's...it's probably going to take a few days to sink in that they're really gone... :(
One of the highlights for me was getting to spend quite a bit of time with my sister. She was a great help in redirecting my decorating in the basement and I really feel like I have a vision of how it will look when it's finished. Praying that we'll get there soon, as I would like to start school down there this fall!

This Charcoal Sure is Yummy!

Sam has taken a liking to charcoal. I watched as he picked up a piece out of the firepit the other day, inspected it and then took a bite. I thought for sure he'd spit it back out and throw the rest of it down. Wrong. This is what he looked like just a few minutes later...

My Little Big 2 Year Old

He thought he was so sly, licking clean Grandpa's custard dish.

Sam turned 2 back on June 14th. Brad took him out to McDonald's for "Birthday Breakfast with Dad" (thankfully, he's still too scared to climb all the way up in the slide system) and then we had a very low-key and quickly thrown together "birthday party" for him at Culvers (no cake, only custard -- he's such a deprived youngest child). I'm still trying to get him in for his 2 year old pictures, but I was kind of hoping to wait until he didn't have a bruise or large scrape on his face. I think I'm coming to terms with the fact that that is just not very probable anytime in this decade...
