I'm not bitter...

See all this sunshine out in CA? See how lovely it is and how Sam has to squint because it's so bright and warm? Know where we're at? The airport. And no, not on arrival. On departure. This was the most sunshine we saw the whole time we were there! It was awfully hard to get on that plane!!!

What?

"Am I too old for this thing?"
"I think this is how that baby was doing it..."

Sam and Ethan

Sam didn't pay much attention to Ethan (unless I was holding him) until toward the end of the trip when he would go into his room to spy on him while he was watching his mobile (or sometimes while he was napping -- oops).

Addie Update

Towards the end of our trip to CA, I thought I'd see if Sam could say "Uncle Kenny" and "Aunt Kathy". He surprised me (he's been doing that a lot lately) with how well he did. "Kenny" came out "Nenny" and "Kathy" sounded something like "DaDa," but at least he was trying.

Anyways, a few days ago I thought I'd check his memory bank and said, "Sam, can you say 'Uncle Kenny'?" He did. "Sam, can you say 'Aunt Kathy'?" He did. And immediately after, he looks up at me and says, "Puppy?".

More from CA

Sam really liked Uncle Kenny and Aunt Kathy's glider -- especially since he could make it go so easily by himself!

Sam and Addie

Sam wasn't so sure of Addie when we first got out to CA, but she really grew on him and became his stand-in siblings.

Baby Ethan

This kid really, really likes his mobile!

Baby Ethan is such a sweetie! I was really glad to able to go out to see him while he's still so little!

What Are We Doing, Mom?!?

Sam and I recently went to CA to visit my sister and her new baby. I believe this picture was at the end of our first flight out (we had to switch planes in Phoenix). He was quite the trooper, but was exhausted by the time we got to Uncle Kenny and Aunt Kathy's house!

Emilie's New Glasses

I was at work a few weeks back when Brad called and said something like, "Something terrible has happened." The thoughts racing through my head were nothing near as minor as Emilie's glasses breaking, which is what had happened. We didn't have an extra pair for her, so we went out the next day and got her a new set (complete with a Barbie glasses case). I guess I can't complain -- that first pair lasted a few days shy of a whole year! (And I like this pair better, anyhow!)

As for how they broke...Apparently her one year old brother wrestled her to the ground, sat on her (rendering her helpless) and ripped them off her face before she could call for help. :)

Scrambled Eggs

One morning recently Bekah requested srcrambled eggs for breakfast. I don't make this often because I don't much care for them (sounds like how Mom wouldn't buy orange juice for us growing up because she didn't like it, right?).
Anyways...that morning reminded me of the other reason I don't make scrambled eggs often. About every other sentence out of Bekah's mouth was, "That's not how Grandpa does it." Well then, I guess she'll just have to get her scrambled eggs at Grandma and Grandpa's from now on!!! :)

Can I Have a Turn?

These pictures really say it all! You can just see that hopeful look in Sam's eye, thinking he may get a chance to get his hands on this thing with so many buttons and noises...And then the look of disappointment when he realizes sharing this camera is not on Emilie's "to do" list.

Rest of Emilie's Bday (only 2 months later)

The thinker. :) I think she was posing for this.

Emilie had Birthday Breakfast with Dad at McDonalds the morning of her birthday and later that night got together with the grandparents at Culvers for presents and ice cream (custard, I know, Kath). :)

You know what they say about good intentions...

Well, I was planning on taking some time to update this this p.m., but first my pics wouldn't transfer from my camera and now my keyboard won't work (I'm using the on-screen keyboard). So, looks like this will have to wait for another day!
